As you know, it is an open world RPG called “The Elder Scrolls” released by Bethesda on November 10, 2016. Skyrim is the fifth work in the “The Elder Scrolls” series, and the name “SKYRIM” is the name of the area where it will be set.

It’s a masterpiece that many players continue to play, but I’ve been wondering if I’ll set foot for months.

I have only played for about 10 hours, so it will be a review in the sense of impression.

I would like to talk about what the Skyrim game is and what kind of player it is suitable for, including the good points and unfortunate points that I personally feel.

I’ve known and been interested in Skyrim for a few years now, but to be honest, I’ve been hesitant about being a first-person game. Personally, I like action (including death games), and recently I’ve been playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Demon’s Souls, Biomutant, Ghost of Tsushima, etc.

In the past, I used to play classic RPGs such as Dragon Quest and FF, but recently I haven’t even chosen FF remake.

There are two reasons why I decided to purchase.

In other words, I assumed that I would definitely come to Japan in the near future. 😁

Although it is an open world RPG as a genre, it can be said that it is a craft, action, and training type RPG with an extremely high degree of freedom. It is not a “general RPG with clear things to do” that “cultivates characters and advances the main story to confront the mighty boss”.

Of course there is a main story, but the existence itself is not that big. There are many submission-like quests that are released from conversations with NPCs that you encounter during the adventure, and it is as if each NPC has a personality.

Talks that seem to be correct to say AI, not just NPCs, are a major factor in drawing into the world of Skyrim.

Conversely, if you don’t talk to NPCs, there are many quests that won’t be released.

To express this game to the extreme, it would be “a game that allows players to live freely in the world of Skyrim, such as ARK and Minecraft.”

First of all, I would like to mention these two points that are most worrisome to those who are wondering whether to play.

① Full voice and unique NPC

Anyway, NPCs speak a lot. In the city, you can hear NPCs talking from here and there, and even when they pass each other, they talk to each other. Moreover, there are NPCs that are rich in individuality and make you laugh unintentionally.

At the time of battle, he throws warlike words properly. If you own headphones, please use them. The immersive feeling will increase dramatically. 😊

② Craft elements that make you think it’s a survival game

The action RPG called “Biomutant” that I played recently also has a craft element, and I have a new memory that I was quite addicted to it and thought that time would melt. The crafting element of this “Skyrim SE” is completely different as an RPG, and the craft of the survival game class is incorporated.

We will mine and collect materials and craft them by combining them with various shapes. This has already penetrated as an element in RPG.

③ Armor and hardware that can be stolen from defeated enemies

It is now commonplace for defeated enemies to drop armor and hardware. However, in this work, the weapons actually equipped by the enemy are targeted, and it is possible to steal only the necessary items.

④ Abundant quests

Anyway, the number of quests is abundant. There are quests with side story elements as well as quests that are positioned as the main story. However, I felt that there are many quests that will not be released unless you talk to NPCs in various places.

The “Other” part of the quest is a side quest that was released in a conversation with an NPC.

⑤ A wide range of character training

First of all, there are 10 races of characters, and the game starts by selecting one of them. The initial value of the status is different for each race, so if you have a clear target character style (warrior, wizard, etc.) and want to grow quickly and efficiently, you should carefully examine the race and decide.

Races belong to three categories, and there are 18 skills. Skills are “technical abilities” in a nutshell, for example, “recovery” skills will allow you to gradually release recovery-type special abilities.

The initial base value of each skill is 15, and bonus values ​​are added to each of the 6 skills for each race. Based on this initial value, it is important to select a race that suits your target character style.

If you are worried about the initial skill value of each race, go to “Skyrim Race Skill” and an article that is a mass of knowledge of the ancestors will be picked up, so let’s check it. To put it bluntly, the important thing that is common to all games is the act of “examining”.

However, if you’re a weirdo like me and your goal is to play this game for a long time, I think it’s okay to choose by appearance without worrying about the details.

⑥ Anyway, the world view is free and has a medieval motif.

In terms of the beauty of the image, it is an era when there are many works more than Skyrim, but this work drawn with a medieval world view is personally very good. With this view of the world, it is irresistible to entice players and play as they please.

Of course, there are main story-like quests, but you can immerse yourself in exploration and subquests without having to prioritize them. You can freely live in the world of SKYRIM by growing into the desired character style, working on exploration, learning crafts, and so on.

Also, in this game you can have your own home, either buying a home for sale or buying only the land and building it yourself. If you own a house, you can store things that you cannot carry, and there are various merits, so it would be one way to proceed with the main story until you own a house and build personal connections in various places.

⑦ It is possible to always switch the viewpoint between the first person and the third person.

The first-person game sickness that I was worried about at the beginning did not hinder whether it was good to play on playstation 5. Moreover, in this work, the viewpoint can always be switched with R3.

The first person will make you more immersive in the Skyrim world, but in some cases it may be better to switch to the third person, such as during battle.

Rather, the third person perspective may be easy to get drunk … 💦

Unfortunately

① MOD is still inaccessible

MOD is also an important factor when it comes to Bethesda games, but unfortunately it is still inaccessible as of October 13, 2021. There is no guarantee that all mods will work without problems, but I wanted to use it because it was a big deal.

Many are compatible with Playstation. It seems that “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition”, which has been decided to be released overseas, contains some mods, so it may be that this new work is intended to improve the current login error.

Of course, it is a rule of thumb to use it at your own risk.

② It is difficult to get a sense of distance during battle

It’s best to get used to it anyway, but it’s difficult to get in touch with each other during battle. 😓 This work does not have an enemy lock-on function, so it is very difficult to keep it in front of you. There is no stylish action.

For the time being, a movie will occur when a one-shot attack is decided, so it may be a terrible thing for the development team to want more.

If you are in the first person, you will be moved out of sight, and if you are in the third person, if you adjust the standing position with the muzzle R stick to catch it in front, you will press R3 and the viewpoint will switch and you will be in a hurry.

Based on the features, good points, and unfortunate points of Skyrim, I thought about the type that can enjoy this game.

① Those who are interested in various things and can greedily explore.

Anyway, it is the best game for those who are worried about various things and are greedy. While on the way to the destination or during the quest, the temptation of a detour is overflowing from the discovery of a place of concern and the encounter with an NPC. That is the world of Skyrim.

② Those who do not have a hard time checking.

If you’re new to The Elder Scrolls series, you probably don’t know. There are many things to look for in Google search, YouTube, etc., such as a little operation method and crafting mechanism. “I don’t know-> investigate-> understand-> fun” It’s a basic thing in recent games, but this behavior has become a habit.

③ Those who want to play freely without being bound by the main quest.

For those who are not good at walking on the laid railroad tracks, this is the game in the middle.

Many RPGs are designed to clear the main quests and defeat powerful enemies. I’m sure there are many people who feel immersive in the story that is incorporated in the process.

For those who are tired of such a royal road RPG, struggling in the world of Skyrim may be a new stimulus.

④ Those who can feel the joy of accomplishing it after hard work.

I am still a beginner of beginners. 😁 Eventually, I would like to build my own house. If you proceed with the game in the future, the time will come when you will have a hard time collecting materials by crafting special things. I personally imagine.

After all, I think that crafting is an unavoidable element in this game. It will be a game for those who can enjoy the joy of completing it using the collected materials after hard work.

④ Those who like exploration and making things.

It is no exaggeration to say that it is a survival type RPG, and many things that can be crafted are incorporated. I have only played for about 10 hours yet, but there seems to be enough craft to look forward to in the future.

Not only armor, ornaments and medicine, but also food and architecture can be crafted except for living things. Maybe it was a little extreme … 😅

Not to mention collecting materials, various search elements cannot be ignored.

⑤ Those who can think and aim for clear goals by themselves.

It’s okay to do the main quests in a straightforward manner, but Skyrim is a game with a high degree of freedom.

For example, those who have a solid goal of how to live in the world of Skyrim, such as “cultivating characters aiming for brain muscle push-type warriors and magic warriors | pursuing the strongest equipment | building a house and hiring a wife” I think you can play for a long time.

When you start the new game, you will land in the world of Skyrim while riding in a wagon. Of course, the default is first person, but I don’t get sick of the game more than I expected. It is unknown whether the platform is hard to get sick because it uses Playstation5. 😅

Apparently it started as a convict on death row. It is time to move the R stick and look at the scenery while listening to the conversations from people who are treated the same.

As I introduced earlier, you can choose one from the 10 races and the character will start. I started with the enthusiasm to enjoy the world of Skyrim, so the ability score will come later! I’m going with a Breton woman who seems to be easy to do with Charakuri. 😁

It can be set quite finely, but it is far from a beautiful woman like MOD. I regret not being able to access the mod. 😢

There is also a key config, so change it to your favorite button arrangement. Increase the brightness a little, and other setting values ​​will start by default.

Actually move the character and start the adventure

When the character is finished, we will visit the prisoner of the neck chompa while waiting for the death penalty. Next is my turn. Even for me, who has very little experience playing in the first person, I can feel that it is a perspective that increases the sense of reality.

Of course, I knew that I couldn’t be decapitated because I was the main character.

A dragon that suddenly appeared. Apparently, the dragon hasn’t appeared in Skyrim for a long time, and all the people are in a state of confusion due to the sudden appearance.

It seems that the purpose is to follow this older brother and escape from this place while learning the operation.

Of course there are battles. It is unknown whether it happened to be the default or the default, but the movie was inserted when the enemy was killed. It’s sober and cool. (⌒∇⌒)

It teaches you to steal armor and gold from your enemies. It’s good to be able to take only what you want, not what you don’t need. It’s okay to sell it, but if you take away anything, it will be heavy and slow.
