Skyrim SE ｜ Embershard Mine ｜

Escape from Helgen with the main quest “Liberation” and finally step into the world of Skyrim. The quest “Before the Storm” was activated and headed for the first destination “Riverwood”, but when I suddenly entered the side road, I found “Ember Shard Mine”.

I decided to stop by after practicing.

Skyrim SE ｜ First mining

When you escape from Helgen, the quest “Before the Storm” will be activated. The purpose of “Before the Storm” is to go to the NPC and Riverwood who followed when escaping and meet a certain person.

Since I am playing on Playstation 5, the viewpoint switches between first person and third person each time I press R3. It is convenient to be able to switch constantly regardless of when moving or fighting.

Skyrim SE ｜ Ember Shard Mine

It’s too tasteless to follow obediently and go straight to Riverwood. After a while, there is a perfect fork. NPCs will move to the left, then I will move to the right.

After climbing a little, I found “Ember Shard Mine”. At the mine entrance beyond that, your sister will intimidate you. As a matter of course, you cannot avoid battle to enter the mine.

There is no lock-on function by default, so it will be a little difficult to fight until you get used to it. It seems that it can be added by using MOD, but it is said that the state of access error has continued since the early spring of 2021. 😢

I managed to defeat it. You will receive gold and a rock pick. The lock pick is an item required to unlock the locked one. The weight is also 0, so if you find one, try to collect it.

Infiltrate the Embershard Mine

Let’s go inside. It seems difficult to secure visibility unless it is dimly lit inside with a “torch” etc., but I have just escaped and I do not have it.

If you go a little further, you will hear the voice. If you hide yourself and proceed, there are two people, so defeat them. Since it is in the early stages, I think that it can be defeated by pushing it with force, but there are many people out there, attacking once with safety measures, taking a distance and defeating it again.

Vein collection location

Since I defeated it safely, I will go down to the place where there is a fire. If you look closely, the “pickaxe” has fallen. There is a vein right in front of the “pickaxe”, and it is a mechanism that can be mined by interacting with the vein with the “pickaxe” removed.

Activate the drawbridge!

After mining the vein, when you return to the original road, the drawbridge is up and you can not proceed. If you go to the right toward the drawbridge, you will find a lever for the drawbridge.

When you activate the lever and lower the drawbridge, two enemies who notice the incident will come toward you, so let’s destroy it. He is a very bad-mouthed person and is ready to kill him.

If you try to guide to the room where the drawbridge lever was, the probability of being surrounded will be low.

Get the Book of Spells!

When you cross the drawbridge, an enemy with a key will appear from the back. Use this key to open the barred door and get the spellbook “Clairvoyance”. Of course, there are other weapons and gold as well.

If you defeat the enemy with the key and proceed a little, you will find the book of spells in the place where the light is on.

The book of spells is just a book when you get it, and you can only learn spells by using it. I didn’t notice this and it was heavy so I sold it at first. 😅

Don’t worry if you accidentally sell it, it will fall to the same place when you visit here again.

Blacksmithing equipment is also available

Once you have a clairvoyant, the smithy is waiting for you. There is a suspension bridge over the smithy, and enemies with bows will attack. If you quickly defeat the enemy of the smithy, defeat the enemy of the suspension bridge and then search for the smithy.

Look at books and improve your skills

There are books everywhere in this world. There is also a book that raises skills, and it is effective just by picking it up and looking at it. A book weighs 1 and is a heavy category, so it is good to improve your skills even if you do not have it.

When you see a book, pick it up from one end.

After a tour of the smithy, I think there is something that will be important to you. Proceed to the dogleg shape on the suspension bridge and go outside.

Skyrim is said to be a world of temptation, and I hear that many players quit halfway through because they don’t know what to do. I would like to think that if you do not try to clear all the quests from the beginning, but only the ones you care about, you will be able to see your own path.
