I’m proudly expressing it with the title of basic knowledge, but I’ll introduce you to the possibility that if you know it, your efficiency and imagination in gameplay will improve. I personally feel that the MARS4 project will be “a game that will captivate even those who have never played before”, and I will continue to introduce it in the future, albeit irregularly.

how to use lighting

Lighting is not just for indoors. “I think there are various ways to use it just by changing the idea a little.”

I think there are many other things besides the ones I will introduce, so let’s have fun exploring Mars with your imagination.

Usage as facility decoration

By using it as a facility decoration, it will be more fashionable than nothing, and it will be easier to see from a distance. “Especially at night, when you go out for mining, you can return without hesitation.”

Usage as a landmark

Currently, the most important issue in MARS4 is the extraction of mineral resources. “It’s safe to say that everything starts with collecting mineral resources.”

Unless changed in an update, the types of minerals spawned from individual rocks are fixed. “In other words, if you remember the location of the rock where the mineral you want to collect appears, you can efficiently collect the target mineral.”

As a mark, use a light near the rock. Wall material is required to install lighting. We want to reduce the cost, so we will combine the wall material (framework) with the triangular base and install the lighting.

In the introduction image, the foundation is upgraded, but it is not necessary. In addition, there are two places where the lighting can be installed even in the framework.

I installed it as a landmark on the rock where silicon appears. It’s a supplementary role until you remember the place, but the daytime when you can work without worrying about your body temperature is surprisingly short, so I wanted to collect it as efficiently as possible.

Unexpected operation method

There are two things I didn’t notice about the operation method for a month.

① Press and hold the left mouse button of the mineral resource extraction

Actually, it’s easy because it automatically swings the pick when you press and hold it. The image below is the early version.

② Presence of headlights

I didn’t realize this for about a month. “Press the F key to turn on the headlights.” “Working in the dark at night, I was shocked when I discovered it.” “What you don’t know is scary!”

Relationship between temperature, body temperature, and physical strength

This is a surprisingly important factor. In order to survive on Mars, as of August 2022, at least two things must be kept in check. “That is oxygen management and body temperature management.”

In playing the game, you have to manage oxygen, body temperature, physical strength, and stamina from above the status bar at the bottom left of the screen. The fluctuations in the amount of oxygen only decrease over time, so all you have to do is maintain your life by carrying a cylinder or charging oxygen.

However, body temperature fluctuates under the influence of temperature, so it may be easier to deal with it by knowing the law.

Relationship between temperature/body temperature and physical fitness

First, take a look at the table below. 　In MARS4, a boundary temperature is set for each change in body temperature and physical strength.

To summarize, body temperature rises and falls with a temperature of 10°C as the boundary line, physical strength increases when body temperature is 9°C or higher, stops increasing when body temperature is 9°C or lower, and begins to decrease when the temperature reaches 0°C. In other words, if the temperature rises above 10°C, you don’t need a heater, and your cold body temperature and declining physical strength will start to rise at once.

After understanding the above, I will introduce the tricks that are currently available on the system. It’s a way to play until the temperature exceeds 10 degrees Celsius while working in the coldest nights without a heater.

How to work at night without a heater

The procedure is simple, in short save and restart repeatedly. “Let’s follow the steps while looking at the images.”

Step ① Data save

In terms of timing, it is when the body temperature reaches 0°C and the physical strength decreases and there are only a few left. However, the most important thing at this time is the remaining oxygen level. This is because if your oxygen level drops to 0 while your physical strength is declining, your physical strength will decrease rapidly.

If your physical strength is 10 or less, your physical strength will be reduced so rapidly that you will die immediately if you run out of oxygen. Set your own save timing while managing your oxygen level.

When you open the Menu screen with the ESC key, enter the save holder name appropriately in the field in the middle right row, click Save Game and save with Yes. Folders created by you will be added under Autosave.

When using this technique, it is a good idea to decide to be the holder of ○○.

Step ② Reboot

After saving, return to the Main Menu and reboot.

Benefits of rebooting

In MARS 4, when you restart, the game will start with your body temperature revived. The plan is to use this mechanism to survive the extremely cold nights.

As I’ve said many times, even if you restart the game, the time and temperature will remain the same as when you saved the game, but your body temperature will return to normal when you start the game. “Here, please remember the relationship between temperature, body temperature, and physical strength.”

If your body temperature is above 9°C, your physical strength will automatically recover.

Since the temperature is below 10℃, the body temperature will gradually drop, but physical strength will continue to recover until the body temperature drops below 9℃. This means that your body temperature will drop to 0°C again, and your physical strength will decrease.

In other words, if you repeat saving and restarting, the heater is unnecessary.

Building Tips and How to Make a Dome

As of August 2022, I believe that architecture is the foundation of MARS4. Whether or not the architecture is directly connected to his P2E will be left to future updates, but it will still be one of the factors that make you crazy about the NFT metaverse game called MARS4.

Well, there are some caveats in architecture. “The reason is that the land on Mars is bumpy.” Currently, there are no tools or machines for leveling the land, and it is unknown whether they will be developed in the future.

Construction requires a certain amount of land survey, as it involves combining several components. Simply put, it starts with finding a piece of land that matches the size of the planned building. 　The larger it is, the more it is necessary to investigate the height difference of the land and set the height difference on the floor of the building.

how to make a dome

Here, as an example, I will introduce how to make a floor when building a dome-shaped thing. 　After deciding on the planned construction site, we will install the components from the highest point on the entire site.

The floor of the dome is a repetition of the process of combining triangular and square materials, but it is recommended to expand from the center to the outer periphery until you are familiar with it.

Now let’s move on to the explanation.

In construction, at least one flooring must be installed. In MARS4, the center of the dome is set as a hexagon made up of 6 triangles. Therefore, choose and combine the triangular base.

Once the hexagon is completed, if you install 1 wall material for the entrance and 5 wall materials, you can attach the top material of the smallest dome. 　This time, I want to explain the rules for expanding the floor, so I won’t develop it into a state where the dome top material is attached.

Once the central hexagon is completed, spread it outward. If you’re building the smallest dome, there’s no problem using the base for all the floors. However, this time I also have a personal desire, and I want to build a floor as large as possible, so I will use the ceiling instead of the foundation.

We will install square top materials on all sides of the hexagon that was installed earlier. The image below shows a hexagonal base with a square top plate attached.

Next, connect the gaps with triangular top materials. If the hexagonal base has a section around the perimeter, this will be the floor of the second smallest dome.

It is impossible to create a perfect circle with MARS4. By combining triangular and square materials, it is possible to construct something close to a circle.

As those with a keen eye may have already noticed, there are rules for building this near-circular object.

Rule: Spread out from the triangular material with a square material, and connect the gap with a triangular material.
