Hogwarts Legacy | Introduce Reshade Mod

A mod that can be said to be a representative of PC privilege, this time I tried to introduce the reshade mod to Hogwarts Legacy, so it is the content that introduces the whole story. Installing mods is at your own risk, so please be aware of this before installing mods after reading this article.

If you type ho in the game search field, you will find Hogwarts Legacy, click on it to go to the Hogwarts Legacy mods page.

ReShade mod download

Now, I will introduce the reshade that I will introduce this time, along with the download procedure. “This mod is PC-friendly, and it felt like it had almost no effect on the frame rate.”

Hogwarts Legacy applications require more PC specs than you think to achieve high image quality and high frame rate. If you use ray tracing, you can basically think that 4K image quality must be given up. It would be possible if there was an RTX4000 class graphics board, but it’s not realistic for ordinary people like me. In that sense, I can personally recommend this mod.

Download procedure

Once on the Hogwarts Legacy mods page, scroll down and click on the Popular (30 Days) tag. Then select the MOD “Cinematic and realistic reshade – performance friendly”.

Doesn’t work with regular files

The download took some time. Normally, click the file tag as shown in the image below and manually download the main file. “However, my installation procedure may have been incorrect, but it didn’t work in-game.”

So, I went back to the Description tag and looked at the description. Then, I decided to pay attention to the sentence below the comparison image.

In summary, if it doesn’t work, download the reshade software.

Use ReShade software

Ultimately, download and install the ReShade software. I’ll put the link below for direct access.

When I accessed reshade.me and clicked download, the screen changed to the one below. “Now select the above and download it to your desktop.”

Launch ReShade software

When I launched the downloaded ReShade software, a speech bubble like the one below appeared. I was prompted to select a game application here, so I scrolled until I could see Hogwarts Legacy. “Then there are two, aren’t there?”

If you place the cursor on each and wait a little, you will notice that you can see the hierarchy of the MOD file. It’s just a guess, but I thought it was the difference in which floor the introduction to the Hogwarts Legacy that I had was going to be.

Check your Hogwarts Legacy local files

I started Steam, right-clicked Hogwarts Legacy in the library, and browsed for local files.

For ease of work, arrange the ReShade software and local files side by side like the image below.

A hierarchy check in the local files revealed that the Hogwarts Legacy application files existed in two hierarchies. Here, I focused on the lowest layer, so I decided to introduce the upper MOD file from ReShade software.

Install ReShade file

From here, it will be the introduction of the ReShade file. If you own Hogwarts Legacy on Steam, I think the above MOD file should be fine. “Actually, I can use it without any problems.”

Select the MOD file and click Next. The following options will appear, so select the OS version. I’m Windows 11, so I selected the second option and clicked Next. After that, just keep clicking Next.

Confirmation after installing the MOD file

With the ReShade software finished, I checked my local files and found that it was installed at the top of the hierarchy with the Hogwarts Legacy application files. This is useful!

Launch ReShade in-game

In the game, pressing the [home] key on the keyboard will bring up a setting screen like the one below. “The home key is also used when closing this.”

There is a triangular arrow on the upper left of the setting screen, but if you press this, ON / OFF of ReShade will be switched. When the right side of the triangular arrow is HL graphics display, ReShade is ON. Here, check each item and adjust the image quality to your liking.

The default setting was sufficient, but the image quality was a little blackish, so it felt dark at night. The image above is the one with the settings that I thought were good. By introducing this ReShade, the frame rate did not drop.

Recent games have beautiful graphics that are incomparable to the old days, but I like to install ReShade because it can be adjusted to even better graphics. Installing mods is at your own risk, so it is important to be prepared to recover if the game fails to start due to some mistake.
