Hogwarts Legacy | What to prioritize early on

This article focuses on increasing the number of equipment inventories. “By default, you can only have 20 pieces of equipment, so if you get everything while exploring, it will quickly become full.”

In order to alleviate this, the challenge mission “Merlin’s Trials” allows you to increase the number of items in your inventory.

Increase equipment inventory

Hogwarts Legacy starts with main story quests, side quests and challenges, and there are many jobs. “Each has a purpose and gives the player various benefits.” This time, we focused on the “Inventory Expansion Reward”, which increases the amount of equipment you can carry.

As you can see from the image below, when you select the challenge search, there is an item called [Clear Merlin’s Trial], so you can increase the number of inventories by proceeding with this.

In this work, as I mentioned at the beginning, if you don’t do anything, the number of equipment you can have is 20. “Basically, it’s common sense to use better equipment, so you tend to think that it’s enough to have as many parts of your body as you can wear plus a few more.” However, when you actually play it, it’s not uncommon for it to overflow during exploration and become unwieldy.

Stop exploring, fast travel to Hogsmeade, sell, then come back and open the chest. “It’s very troublesome.” That’s why I explained at length, but it’s better to have a lot of them.

Notes on Trials of Merlin

Trials of Merlin are scattered around the world map, and are jobs that unravel the mysteries of the devices left behind by the great magician Merlin. And what you need to solve the mystery is magic and a mallow. “The magic required for each location is different, so you will have to learn the magic through the quests before starting.”

In other words, even if you discover Merlin’s trial place, you can’t solve the trick even if you lack either the essential magic or the mallow.

What is a mallow?

Mallow is one of the ingredients and can be purchased at Magic Neeps in Hogsmeade. At the beginning of the game, you have to spend 100 gold to purchase it, but as you progress through the main story quests and unlock the “Room of Necessity”, you will be able to purchase and grow seeds worth 200 gold.

Release Merlin’s Trials

First, go unlock Merlin’s Trial Challenges that are locked. The image below is the challenge release location, which is the location east of Fast Travel “Lower Hogsfield” in the South Hogwarts region.

As you get closer, you see a person named Nora Treadwell entwined with two men. “If you help him, you will be able to challenge Merlin’s first trial.”

The enemy “Ashwinder Duelist” you will face here is a bit troublesome because it bounces the basic magic. It’s easy if you learn Defind, an attack magic that cuts through enemies from afar, but even if you don’t master it, it’s still possible to defeat them even if you can’t clear them at first sight.

First Merlin Trial

Once you’ve defeated the Ashwinder duelists, it’s time to take on the first Trial of Merlin. Merlin’s trial will be successful by using the mallow as the nucleus (circular stone pavement) and solving the mystery surrounding the device.

The first Merlin’s Trial can be cleared by lighting the device with Incentio.

Second Trial of Merlin

There is a second Merlin Trial not far from the place you just cleared. “It’s very close, so let’s clear it all at once and expand the equipment inventory from 20 to 24.”

The second Merlin’s Trial location is west of the first, across the village and up the mountain. “Let’s look for it by referring to the images above and below.”

The mechanism here can be cleared by carrying the randomly left spherical stone to the surrounding pedestal. The magic Axio is used to carry the spherical stone, but if you have mastered the Incentio you used earlier, you should have mastered the Axio as well.

If you guide the stone closer to it, it will automatically fit on the pedestal.

If you clear this second and get the reward on the challenge screen, the inventory expansion will be completed as shown in the image below.
